Evidence on physical activity and the prevention of frailty and sarcopenia among older people

a systematic review to Inform the World Health Organization physical activity guidelines

This systematic review is the first to evaluate the effectiveness of physical activity on the prevention of frailty and sarcopenia among people aged 65 years and older. Results from the 10 identified studies suggest that physical activity probably prevents frailty among older people (moderate certainty evidence); however, the role of physical activity in the prevention of sarcopenia remains less clear at this time.
